Our school mascot found a friend. We saw lots of animals in their natural habitat. We collected some great landscapes for Year 2 to use in their storytelling.
How amazing?
I'm having trouble uploading the video but will try and sort things out for you tomorrow.
Take care
Mrs Narraway xx
So glad to hear you arrived safely and are having such a fun time! In Science today we talked about habitats and looked at a picture of a giraffe from Africa. Little did we know that you would actually be on a safari and seeing real animals in their native habitat. What other animals did you see? Mrs Urmston
ReplyDeleteHello there,
DeleteIt was wonderful to see the animals in their natural habitat. I saw gnus, kudu, elephants, giraffes, waterhogs, hippos, crocodiles, lions, lots of zebras.

Hello Mrs Narraway,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are having lots of fun in South Africa! What was your favourite animal that you saw on your journey? Have you tasted any scrum my food? Did you meet any different people today?
We have had a good Monday. Enjoy the rest of the week.
From sam and Charlie Seddon
Hello Charlie and Sam,
DeleteThank you for your message I was thrilled to get it. I am having a lovely time and meeting lts of new friends. I met all the teachers from our partner school today and the fantastic children. I am going to post some pictures and videos on the school website hopefully. We have had lots of delicious food but what stands out to me is how fresh and tasty the fruit is here.
I think my favourite animal was the zebra. They are so beautiful and striking with their stripes.
I hope this answers your questions.
See you soon,
Mrs Narraway x

ReplyDeleteHi Mrs Narraway!
ReplyDeleteWe have some questions for you:
What are the children's houses like?
What colour is the mud?
What do the children eat for breakfast?
Do the children wear unforms?
Do any of the children have any interesting talents?
Has it ever snowed there?
We have lots more questions and are all very excited to hear from you! Have a great time!
Best wishes,
Mrs Kirkham and Year 4
Park Road Community Primary School.

Hello Park Road Year 4,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your great questions. I will answer them as best I can. The children's houses are very varied depending on their family's wealth. I have not seen all of Soweto yet so it would be unfair to generalise and say. This afternoon we will be taking a tour so hopefully I will have some photograohs to show you.
The earth has an orange colour to it.
Many of the children in the school have a breakfast which is similar to porridge. They may have it off the school each day.
Today when I arrived at the school they were wearing their green and yellow uniform, and some were even wearing our Newchurch uniform. I have photographs to show you.
The children are not without talent and singing is definitiely one of them. I have seen them do a traditional vendi dance. Hopefully, the video will follow.
The last time it snowed was 1981.
Hope this answers some of your questions.
Take care,
Mrs Narraway xx
Who is having the best time: you or Robin?

ReplyDeleteMrs Narraway,
Please could you tell me how hot it is in South Africa and what language do they speak.
Have a lovely time,
From Max W-G Year 2
Hi Max,
DeleteIt was 30 degrees yesterday. The language of the school we partner with is Vendi but there are lots of languages spoken in South Africa.
Thanks for your message.
